Yes, Spector supports
the following versions
of the Mac OS:
Mac OS X - 10.3 (Panther)
Mac OS X - 10.2 (Jaguar)
Mac OS 9.x
Mac OS 8.x
and requires a Macintosh
computer running a G3,
G4 or G5 processor at
233 MHz or faster. This
includes the following
systems:
iMac
iBook
PowerMac G3, G4, G4
Cube or G5
Powerbook G3 or G4
Alternatively, we offer
Spector for the Windows
Operating Systems. Click

about Spector for Windows

2. Is Spector available for Mac OS
X (Mac OS 10.x)?
Spector supports
Mac OS X versions 10.2
and 10.3.
Spector does not currently
support the original
Mac OS X version 10.0
and Mac OS 10.1.

3. Is Spector available for the Windows
OS?
Yes. Click
here to learn more
about Spector for Windows.

4. How much memory is appropriate
for Spector?
Spector will run
with 16M of memory,
but we suggest 32M of
memory or more for optimal
performance.

5. How much disk space does Spector
take?
This depends on
many factors, such as
how frequently you set
Spector to save your
screens, whether you
save in full color or
4-bit grayscale, and
how many days you allow
Spector to record before
automatically getting
rid of files. It also
depends on how heavily
you use your Mac.
A typical 8-hour day
of recording will take
about 80M of hard disk
space.

6. How does Spector protect my child
from Internet pedophiles?
While Spector cannot
stop all pedophiles
from going after children
on the Internet, it
provides a great deterrent,
and allows you to be
aware that such activity
has been attempted.
One of the biggest deterrents
to pedophiles is getting
caught. If a pedophile
has an online conversation
with your child, Spector
will record that conversation.
If the pedophile divulges
their phone number or
address, you will see
that in Spector.
If you see that your
child has had such a
conversation, you will
be able to take the
appropriate action to
stop that from happening
in the future. Further,
if a pedophile suspects
that he/she is being
recorded, they will
quickly move on to another
target. As more and
more people use Spector,
pedophiles will begin
to notice, and most
likely stop going after
children, at least on
the Internet.

7. Is Spector like the Internet filtering
programs?
No. We at NetEspion
do not believe that
filters are very effective.
They too often don't
catch the web sites
you want to stay away
from, and they often
prevent you from visiting
completely legitimate
sites.
We believe that recording
what people actually
do is the best way to
keep them from inappropriate
sites. When people know
they may be watched,
they are much more careful
about what they do.

8. Can I use Spector and an Internet
filtering program at
the same time?
Yes.

9. Will Spector work with my other
Mac OS applications
besides the Internet?
Yes. Spector records
Mac activity for all
of your applications,
including word processors,
spreadsheets, financial
programs, databases,
communications, and
even games. If you are
concerned about how
much time your employees
are spending playing
games at work, you'll
be able to see exactly
how they are spending
their time with Spector.

10. Am I allowed to install this
software on somebody
else's computer?
You may only install
Spector on a computer
that you own.
Before you install the
software, you must agree
to use it only on a
computer you own.

11. Should I inform my employees
or others that they
are being monitored?
Yes.
The software license
agreement requires that
you inform anyone you
may monitor with NetEspion
products.

12. But my employees/spouse/children
are very computer smart.
I'm afraid that they
will poke around the
system and try to circumvent
Spector.
That is why Spector
has a super Stealth
feature.
When installed in Stealth
mode, Spector does not
show up as an icon,
does not appear in the
"About This Computer"
window, Application
Menu, and it cannot
be uninstalled without
the Spector password
which YOU specify, and
Spector does not slow
down the operation of
the computer it is recording.

13. Does Spector come with a money-back
guarantee?
If Spector
does not perform as
advertised, please notify
us within 72 hours of
purchase. We will do
our very best to make
sure the product performs
properly. Assuming you
have notified us within
72 hours of purchase,
if we are unable to
resolve the issue within
7 days of your notifying
us, we will refund your
purchase price in FULL.
Please note that we
do not provide refunds
for simply changing
your mind.

14. How easy is Spector to install
and use?
We have designed
Spector to be very easy
to install and use.
Installation should
take less than two minutes.
After that, you click
on the Record button
to start recording your
Macintosh and Internet
activity and a Playback
button to review recorded
activity. If you want
to get more sophisticated,
Spector makes that easy
too with simple menus
and online help.

15. I would like to purchase and
download Spector on
the computer I am currently
using, but install it
on another computer.
Is this possible?
Yes. The Spector
installation file is
compact and will fit
on a single floppy disk
or can be burned onto
a CD. You may purchase
and download on a computer
and copy it to floppy
disk or CD, and then
later install on another
computer.
Since 2000, Apple has
moved away from including
a floppy disk drive
in Macintosh computers,
therefore we do offer
the alternative of purchasing
a CD with Spector which
can be used for installation.
Please note that the
software license for
Spector allows for one
installation per purchase.
Please also note that
you are only allowed
to install Spector on
a computer you own.
If you would like to
install Spector on more
than one computer, please
us and ask for multiple
license pricing.

16. I am a graphic artist. Will
Spector slow down my
Macintosh or impede
my work?
Spector for Macintosh
has been designed to
run completely undetectable
in the background. This
means that you will
not see a system pause,
typing pause or jerky
movement of a graphic
design tool in your
applications.
In fact, our in-house
graphic designer runs
Spector for Macintosh
continuously at the
highest frequency of
snapshot recording without
any loss of performance!

17. I know Spector works for a dial-up
connection. I have a
cable modem. Will Spector
still work?
Yes. Spector works
independently of how
you connect to the Internet.
Whether your connection
is with AOL, via modem
dial-up, using cable
modem or DSL, or simply
using a proxy server
or local area network
connection, Spector
is guaranteed to work.

18. Does Spector support the recording
of multiple displays?
Spector will automatically
record everything that
appears on the primary
display (the display
with the menu bar).
Spector will not record
screen snapshots of
any additional displays
(only keystroke activity).

19. How soon can I get Spector?
Spector for Mac
OS X and Mac OS 9 is
available now for immediate
electronic download.
Using our secure server,
you can purchase, download,
install and begin using
Spector in less than
10 minutes, even if
you download using a
28K modem!
However, once you placed
your order it might
take up to 48 hours
(depending on the work
load) to receive your
registration serial
number. Please be patient.
